DCA is committed to providing support within a school environment that promotes student academic success, school safety, and mental health wellness by building resilience, coping strategies, interventions, and through social emotional learning.

GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT

K-8 Social Worker: Gina Autry


School social workers provide a range of essential services to support students, families, and the school community. Their primary focus is on enhancing students' academic success and emotional well-being. They support with the following:


1. Counseling and Support: Individual and group counseling for students facing personal, social, or emotional challenges.
2. Crisis Intervention: Immediate support for students dealing with crises, such as trauma, loss, or behavioral issues.
3. Family Support: Assisting families with resources, referrals, and guidance on parenting and family dynamics.
4. Resource Connection: Connecting students and families with community resources, such as mental health services, food banks, and housing assistance.
5. Education and Workshops: Providing training and workshops on topics like mental health, bullying prevention, and conflict resolution.


By addressing both individual and systemic issues, school social workers play a vital role in fostering a positive school climate and supporting student success.
