Davidson Charter Academy Celebrates Academic Growth Across Every Subject

Lexington, NC - Davidson Charter Academy (DCA) is proud to celebrate academic progress following the 2025-26 school year, with students demonstrating growth across every tested subject and student subgroup.

According to 2025-26 school performance data released by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, DCA earned an academic growth score of 82, reflecting schoolwide progress across reading, mathematics and science. Proficiency also increased across all three subjects, rising by two percentage points in reading, four in mathematics and three in science.

For DCA, these results represent more than numbers. They reflect the hard work taking place each day in classrooms and the commitment of students, teachers, staff and families to continued improvement.

“We are incredibly proud of the growth our students demonstrated this past year,” said Lori James, Interim School Director at Davidson Charter Academy. “These results are a testament to the dedication of our teachers, the perseverance of our students and the support of our families. At the same time, we know there is still important work ahead of us. We are committed to building on this momentum, strengthening instruction and continuing to raise the bar so that every student has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential.”

The growth is particularly meaningful as Davidson Charter Academy continues working to strengthen the academic experience it provides students and families. DCA is already using student performance data to identify areas where additional support is needed, strengthen instruction and better meet the individual needs of students. The school remains focused on creating an environment where students are known, challenged and supported and where teachers have the resources they need to help every student succeed.

“This progress gives us a strong foundation to build upon,” James said. “Our goal is not simply to celebrate where we are today, but to continue getting better for our students. They deserve our very best, and our entire team is committed to doing the work necessary to help them succeed.”

As DCA moves forward into the 2026-27 school year, the school remains focused on high expectations, continued academic growth and its goal of becoming the top-performing school in Davidson County. The progress made this past year marks an important step toward that goal and reflects the commitment of the entire DCA community to providing students with an exceptional education.
